Architects in Practice is a London-based studio committed to designing high quality, contemporary, sustainable architecture.

We are progressive yet pragmatic, we understand the importance of creating buildings that are both beautiful and functional, and all of our projects are sensitive to our clients' needs and rooted in extensive research.

We are passionate about what we build as well as how we build, and we work with like-minded people to promote and execute ideas that have a positive impact on the buildings and spaces we work with. This, we believe, comes about through client collaboration, building innovation and environmental awareness.

Simply put, we love our work, have fun doing it and are proud of what we do.

Founding Director

Ian established Architects in Practice following extensive experience working for prominent London-based, award-winning practices such as CGL and Stirling Prize winner, dRMM.

Throughout his professional career Ian has amassed over 15 years’ experience in the design and delivery of major works concentrated around mixed-use residential, education and regeneration schemes across the UK.

As the Founding Director, Ian manages the strategic development of the practice and coordinates design output, production and delivery of all projects, ensuring design intent is preserved throughout all stages.

Ian’s strengths lie in his creative eye – which transcends into the buildings we design – his self-drive and his meticulous attention to detail.

Ian is a Northerner by birth, a Londoner by choice, an Architect by trade, a cycling enthusiast by default, and a record collector by instinct.

Ian Givin

Director

Arun joined Architects in Practice in January 2024. He has a broad range of experience across various sectors and scales, from residential, mixed-use urban regeneration, co-living and offices. He has worked for much of his career at notable, award-winning practices CGL and PTEa.

He has excellent technical skills honed in leading the delivery of many complex large scale residential and mixed-use projects. He is fluent in BIM implementation at a strategic and detailed level and is a strong advocate of sustainable architecture, with experience in designing to Passivhaus standards.

Arun combines his in-depth practical knowledge with a passion for achieving the highest standards in design, finding particular satisfaction in drawing out elegant solutions from complex briefs.

Arun is a Londoner by birth, and choice, although he often finds the need to escape, hiking in far away mountains.
